Notting Hill May Fair

St John’s May Fair, sponsored by Marsh and Parsons, is an annual event taking part this year on Saturday the 10th of May from 2pm until 5pm. It is part of of a two week long art’s festival called Mayfest. Both are events are held at St John Church’s, Notting Hill located on Lansdowne Crescent, juts off Ladbroke Grove.

The event is growing in popularity and last year’s May Fair event attracted around 1000 people during the afternoon, which helped to raise thousands of pounds for Charity’s in and around Notting Hill.

There are many different attractions on offer, which include children’s games, face painting, a bouncy castle complete with old favorites such as a coconut shy and a tombola with prizes donated by local Notting Hill businesses, including Graham and Green, Andea Jewellery, Books for Cooks and the Travel Bookshop.

A increasingly popular raffle is also held with with fantastic prizes including days or evenings out at events or restaurants. A fancy dress competition is being held again this year and it will be Judged on the cutest, most impressive and the best home made outfit’s. The category’s will be split between under 5’s and over 5 year olds with different prizes up for grabs. Entry to the competition is £1.

You will be unlikely to go hungry as there will be plenty of food and drink available, including traditional teas, a Pimms bar, sandwiches, cakes, candy floss and homemade jams and chutneys, amongst others stalls.

Shoppers are not forgotten either, with stalls selling vintage jewelery, children’s books and toys and general bric a brac goods.

Admission to the Notting Hill May Fair costs just £1 for adults with children getting in for free.
