Asher Roth, the 23 year old American white rapper from Pennsylvania, is coming to the UK and is to debut ay the Tabernacle in Notting Hill, London. on the 7th May 2009. The rapper, currently signed to a joint venture between Steve Rifkind’s SRC Records and Scooter Braun’s Schoolboy Music is producing frat based rap tracks and perhaps is best known for his release oin the UK, namely, I love College.
A relative new comer to the Rap world, only discovered on Myspace in 2006, Asher Roth has just release his first album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle’s with the following reviews-
New Musical Express
“The effortlessly cool beats, hooky choruses, and above all, his witty, super-fast flow indicate this skinny blond to be a genuinely talented star”
Entertainment Weekly
“Roth never floats sham tales of suburban hardship here. Instead, he just wants to have a good time–and for the most part, he provides one as well”
RapReviews.com
“With beats provided largely by newcomer Oren Yoel that are more hit than miss, Asleep in the Bread Aisle is that new kind of 2009 hip-hop you either have to learn to live with or jump off the bandwagon altogether”
Comparisons are too easy to make between him and Rap giant Eminem, just on looks, skinny white boy, size etc, you just need to look at the very different upbringings between the two stars and listen to the differing lyrics both artists have to rap about to see that two are dissimilar in many ways.
Asher Roth recently performed with Chester French at The Gramercy Theater, in New York City, and then headed of to an after party at Porky’s, a venue which is well know for providing what his latest album is all about: Jelly drink shots, beer style pong and goldfish bowl sized glasses as per the well screened video on MTV.
